Mallikarjuna Jyothirlinga { Srisailam } Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, a Jyotirlinga is a divine manifestation of Lord Shiva, and it represents the formless and eternal aspect of Lord Shiva as the supreme creator, preserver, and destroyer of the universe. Srisailam Jyotirlinga is believed to be self-manifested and is considered highly sacred by devotees of Lord Shiva.
Bhramaramba Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhramarambika, a form of Goddess Parvati. Goddess Bhramarambika is the consort of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy, a manifestation of Lord Shiva. In this temple, goddess is worshiped in the form of Brahmani Shakti.
Sakshi Ganapathi temple is located 2 km east of the main temple. Since Ganapathi presents proof that each devotee has visited Srisailam to Lord Shiva in Kailasa, he is called Sakshi Ganapathi. He is sculpted beautifully out of a black stone.
Patala Ganga is another place worth visiting on this trip Situated in the backwaters of River Krishna, Pathala Ganga is considered to be highly auspicious; it is also said to have medicinal properties. Many devotees can be seen taking a holy dip in the sacred waters here. It is believed that taking a dip here can cure various kinds of skin diseases.
Srisailam Dam located 14 km downstream of Srisailam dam is under advanced stage of construction to hold the water released by the hydro turbines and later pump back into the Srisailam reservoir by operating the turbines in pump mode.
Octopus View Point has been named so because of Krishna River down below that looks like an octopus spread between the hillocks. It provides a spectacular bird’s eye view of the entire valley below. In addition to that, there is a regular safari tour conducted by the reserve that is the major highlight of the place.
Srisailam Boating promises a calming experience amid the mesmerising nature. From devotees who have come to seek blessing at the Sri Mallikarjuna Jyothirilinga, nature enthusiasts who have visited for a break away from the hustle bustle of cities to those on a short weekend break to Srisailam from Hyderabad.
Akka Mahadevi Caves The caves are named after the Kannada poetess, saint and philosopher of the 12th century, Akka Mahadevi. She is said to have performed penance and offered prayers inside the caves to the naturally existing Shivalingam deep inside the cave formation.
Chatrapati Shivaji Mandir built in memory of shivaji, maratha king who visited srisailam in 1677, he built the northern tower of the srisailam temple, its also said goddess appeared before him and bestowed him a sword to fight the evil, whereas another story goes as tuljapur bhavani gifted him the sword.
Srisailam Ropeway One of the best ropeways in the country, Srisailam ropeway is an indispensable part of Srisailam tour The holy town of Srisailam is by the side of River Krishna. Krishna River that flows near the hills where the Sri Mallikarjuna Temple is located is called as Patalganga.
Phaladhara panchadhara is one of the popular location in Srisailam, Which is besides main road of Srisailam. There is no Entry fee for this visit. It can be reached Via 160 steps in a narrow valley The name of the stream is derived from Lord Shiva. This place is available for visit from 09:00 am to 05:00pm
